Bucs Crush Vikings 7-1

Seven different Bucs score in rout

Joshua Menard had a goal and two assists as the Bucs rolled to a 7-1 win over Missouri Valley Sunday afternoon.
ROLLA, Mo.—After scoring just two goals in the first three games of the season, the Christian Brothers University Bucs exploded for six in a 30-minute span during the second half as they routed Missouri Valley 7-1 Sunday afternoon.  Seven different players scored in the win for CBU.

The Bucs (2-1-1) scored on an own goal four minutes into the game to take a 1-0 lead, and the score remained 1-0 until the 57th minute, at which time the Bucs’ offense had scored just twice in nearly 360 minutes.

The floodgates opened in the 57th minute when Ryan Heine (New Orleans, La./Brother Martin HS) scored off a Clark Bradford (Blackburn, England/Ribblesdale HS) assist.  Four minutes later, Brenden Ross (Toronto, Ontario/Father Michael Goetz HS) scored unassisted from the top of the box.  In the 68th, Oisin Crean (Dublin, Ireland/) scored off a Joshua Menard (Lafayette, La./Lafayette HS) cross.

After the Vikings (1-2) scored on a Miroslav Petrovic goal in the 73rd minute, the Bucs jumped right back into the offense, as Rasaq Kuteyi (Lagos, Nigeria/Mansfield (TX) Summit High School) headed in a Menard corner kick just 1:14 later.  The Bucs scored again 2:15 after that as Zach Tubinis (Memphis, Tenn./Houston HS) scored on a breakaway after a Craig De Melo (Langley, B.C./Langley Secondary School) lead pass.

Menard scored the final goal in the 84th minute, receiving a feed from Tubinis and scoring from the middle of the box.

The Bucs out-shot the Vikings 18-11, including a 10-5 edge in shots on goal.

The Bucs will be back in action next weekend as they travel to Huntsville, Ala., to face Barry Friday night at 7 p.m. and Eckerd Sunday at noon.
