Box Score MEMPHIS—Harding guard Trent Morgan made two clutch three-pointers, one at the end of regulation and the other with 8.2 seconds remaining in overtime to lift Harding to a 75-74 win over the No. 12 Christian Brothers University Bucs Thursday night at Canale Arena, ending the Bucs' 10-game Gulf South Conference West Division winning streak.
The Bucs (14-3, 3-1 GSC West) saw their eight-game winning streak snapped, as well as their 16-game home winning streak, with the loss. They led 69-66 after a pair of
Reggie Peyton (Memphis, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) free throws with just under 10 seconds in regulation before the Bisons (12-5, 2-2) sent it to overtime on Morgan's three-pointer.
In the overtime, the Bucs held a 74-72 lead with the ball at the 36-second mark before Morgan's third steal, on an inbounds pass after a time out, set up his game-winning triple.
Neither team built a lead bigger than six points until the Bucs opened a 45-36 edge on a four-point play by Peyton with 14:51 remaining, but the Bisons answered with a 10-0 run, and neither team led by more than five points again in a game that featured nine ties and 11 lead changes.
Nick Kohs (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota East HS) led the Bucs with 26 points to go with nine rebounds and three blocks. Peyton scored 22 with a game-high four steals, and
Scott Dennis (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore HS) matched his career-high with 13 rebounds.
Morgan finished with a team-high 21 points for the Bisons, including five three-pointers. Kevin Brown scored 18, while Stephen Blake added 10.
The Bucs will try to start a new streak Saturday night at 5 p.m. as they visit Henderson State.
