Bucs Sizzle in 104-60 Win

Kevin Doran scored a career-high 21 points, making 7-of-9 three-pointers to lead the Bucs to a 104-60 win over Williams Baptist Tuesday night at Canale Arena.
Box Score MEMPHIS—The Christian Brothers University Bucs snapped out of a season-long cold spell from three-point range Tuesday night, knocking down 17 threes as they rolled to a 104-60 win over Williams Baptist.

The Bucs (6-3) used a 33-6 run in the middle of the first half to blow open the game.  Connor Wetzel (Cincinnati, Ohio/Wyoming HS) made a layup to spark the run at the 16:43 mark of the first half, and a Kevin Doran (Memphis, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) three-pointer with 7:16 remaining in the half capped the run, giving the Bucs a 39-13 lead.  The Eagles (6-6) never came closer than 21 points again.

Doran scored a career-high 21 points in just 11 minutes, burying seven three-pointers in nine tries to tie for the second-most in a game in school history.  Zack Warner (St. Louis, Mo./Clayton HS) scored 18 with five assists in 25 minutes, and Kyle Couvion (Dayton, Ohio/Centerville HS) added 14 in just 18 minutes.  Michael Drake (Little Rock, Ark./Catholic HS) and Scott Dennis (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore HS) scored 11 each, with Dennis grabbing nine rebounds with seven assists and three steals in 25 minutes.

Marcus Massey scored 15 on 5-of-5 three-point shooting to lead the Eagles, while De'Varrio Watson added 12.

As a team, the Bucs found the record book in three categories.  Their 30 assists ranks second in school history, while 17 three-pointers ties for the second spot.  The Bucs' 104 points ranks seventh in school history.

The Bucs shot 55.4 percent (41-of-74) overall, including 47.2 percent (17-of-36) from three-point range.  The Eagles shot 37.7 percent (23-of-61) overall and 45 percent (9-of-20) from beyond the arc.  The Bucs out-rebounded WBC 42-28, including a 15-11 edge on the offensive glass, and they forced 11 turnovers while committing just four.

The Bucs return to the court Saturday night at 6 p.m. as they visit West Alabama.
