Scott Dennis scored 13 points as the No. 10 Bucs won 84-61 over Henderson State Saturday for Homecoming.
Box Score MEMPHIS—The No. 10 Christian Brothers University Bucs posted their best point total since November as they cruised to an 84-61 Homecoming victory over Henderson State, taking sole possession of first place in the Gulf South Conference West Division with two games remaining.

For the second straight game, the Bucs (21-4, 10-2 GSC West) never trailed, scoring the first five points and never allowing the Reddies (3-21, 1-11) closer than one point.

The Bucs could never push the lead to double figures in the first half, and they had cut the Bucs' lead to 43-36 with 16:32 remaining before the Bucs slammed the door on the upset bid with a 29-7 run.

The run started with back-to-back three-pointers by Scott Dennis (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore HS) and Zack Warner (St. Louis, Mo./Clayton HS), and back-to-back threes from Brandon Shane (Greenfield, Tenn./Greenfield HS) and Reggie Peyton (Memphis, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) capped the run to give the Bucs a 72-43 lead, their biggest of the night, with 5:36 remaining.  In between, Nick Kohs (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota East HS) scored 12 of his game-high 23 points, including three thunderous dunks.

Kohs was 11-of-16 from the floor and made his only free throw as he grabbed 10 rebounds with five assists to go with his 23 points.  Dennis and Warner scored 13 each, with Warner setting a new career high in scoring.  Peyton scored 12, while Kyle Couvion (Dayton, Ohio/Centerville HS) turned in his usual balanced line with seven points, four rebounds, four assists, and four steals in 30 minutes.

Julian Bassett and Martin Mitchell scored 11 each to lead the Reddies, while Sean Romey added 10.

The Bucs shot 50.8 percent (33-of-65) for the night, including 36.4 percent (12-of-33) from three-point range, while the Reddies were 45.6 percent (26-of-57) overall, including 45.5 percent (5-of-11) from three-point range.  The Bucs were a perfect 6-of-6 at the free throw line, while the Reddies were 4-of-7 (57.1 percent).

The Bucs held a 34-31 edge on the glass, and they forced 14 turnovers while committing nine.

With the Bucs' win and Arkansas Tech's 86-81 double-overtime win over No. 24 Delta State, the Bucs reclaim sole possession of first place in the GSC West with two games remaining.  DSU is in second place at 9-3 in the GSC West, while ATU holds the third spot at 8-4.

The Bucs have two games left in the regular season as they visit Southern Arkansas Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. before closing out the regular season with a home game against Arkansas Tech Saturday at 5 p.m.
