MEMPHIS—Visiting Loyola (La.) scored six runs in the top of the 11th as they claimed a 9-3 victory over the Christian Brothers University Bucs Tuesday afternoon at Buc Field.
The Bucs (7-25) struck first in the bottom of the fourth inning. Rocky Escjadillo led off with an infield single, and
Josh Shelton (Rosemark, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) followed with an RBI double down the left field line. Shelton scored on a wild pitch.
The Wolfpack (10-27) answered with a run in the fifth and two in the sixth. The Bucs tied the game in the seventh, loading the bases with one out and tying the game on an
Alan Wright (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) groundout.
From there, neither team scored until the the 11th, when the Wolfpack converted three singles, four walks, two hit batters, a wild pitch, and a passed ball into six runs in the inning.
Escajadillo,
Joseph Kaminski (Sherwood, Ark./Little Rock Catholic HS), and
Will Britt (Oxford, Miss./Oxford HS) rapped out two hits each for the Bucs.
Matt Lewis (Munford, Tenn./Munford HS) turned in a strong start, tossing three scoreless innings before reaching his pitch count.
Ben Chism (Nesbit, Miss./DeSoto Central HS) tossed two hitless innings out of the bullpen as well.
The Bucs and Wolfpack will meet again Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m.
