MEMPHIS—Visiting Ouachita Baptist scored three goals in 17 minutes late in the first half as they claimed a 3-1 win over the Christian Brothers University Bucs in non-conference soccer action Sunday afternoon at Signaigo Field.
The Bucs (2-7-1) opened scoring in the 17th minute as
Alex Bermel (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) banged a volley in off the crossbar after Ouachita Baptist (7-3) failed to clear a corner kick.
The Tigers answered in the 26th minute after CBU keeper
Jaime Garcia (San Salvador, El Salvador/Lincoln School) couldn't hold on to a save. Rizvan Ceka served a cross over him, and Payam Pourjavad headed it in off Garcia's arms for the equalizer. Ceka finished a Victor Romero cross in the 32nd minute to give OBU the lead, and Justin Lowry scored off a Nathan Gray pass to set the final margin in the 43rd minute.
The Bucs out-shot the Tigers 17-5, but OBU put four shots on target to the Bucs' three.
The Bucs will face another GSC foe in a non-conference game Tuesday night at 7 p.m. as they visit Harding. Their next home game is set for Sunday, Oct. 24, as the Bucs host Harding in a GSC contest.
