MEMPHIS, Tenn. – As the Christian Brothers University men's soccer team prepares for the Gulf South Conference Championship, the Buccaneers are looking to turn another postseason opportunity into a memorable finish to the 2026 season.
Under head coach Enda Crehan, who is in his seventh season leading the program, CBU has continued to build a competitive foundation within the Gulf South Conference. The Buccaneers enter the postseason with experience in high-pressure matches and a history of competing for conference honors.
CBU's most significant postseason accomplishment under Crehan came in 2022, when the Buccaneers captured the GSC Championship for the first time since 2012. After a 1-1 draw against West Florida in the championship match, CBU prevailed 5-4 in penalty kicks to secure the conference title and earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship. The appearance marked the program's first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 2014.
The Buccaneers have continued to return to the conference tournament in recent seasons, reaching the GSC Championship semifinals in 2024 and qualifying for the postseason again in 2025. Those experiences have helped establish a foundation for a team looking to make another run this fall.
The 2026 postseason presents another opportunity for CBU to demonstrate its growth, resilience and commitment to competing against the conference's top programs. The Buccaneers earned the No. 7 seed and are scheduled to face second-seeded Auburn University at Montgomery in the GSC Championship quarterfinals on Saturday, Oct. 31, at 7 p.m. in Montgomery, Alabama.
CBU's conference future is also entering a period of transition. The university is scheduled to join the Mid-South Conference as a full member beginning in the 2027-28 academic year.
With a conference championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance already part of the program's recent history under Crehan, the Buccaneers now turn their attention to the challenge ahead. CBU will look to carry its experience into the postseason and compete for another opportunity to advance in the GSC Championship.
Up the Bucs!
