MEMPHIS, TN. — Christian Brothers University battled throughout 90 minutes Wednesday night at Signaigo Field, but Delta State came away with a 3-0 Gulf South Conference victory over the Buccaneers.

CBU goalkeeper Kaylee Allen turned in a strong performance between the posts, recording seven saves on 10 shots on goal. Allen made two saves in the opening half before making five more stops after halftime.

Delta State struck early, taking a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute when Lola Cunningham scored off an assist from Mariela Dolan. CBU continued to battle defensively and created opportunities of its own, with Julia Brandao recording two shots on goal in the first half.

The Statesmen extended their advantage in the 58th minute when Kennedi Turner scored off an assist from Caroline Chandler. Delta State added its final goal in the 77th minute, as Avery Allison found the back of the net off a pass from Bryleigh Taylor.

The Buccaneers continued to compete until the final whistle, finishing with six shots, including four on target. Brandao and Lina Marie Zagarti each recorded two shots, while Mackenzie Allen and Sarah Elliott also registered attempts.

CBU will look to regroup and return to the pitch in its next contest.
