Box Score HUNTSVILLE, Ala.—No. 8 Alabama-Huntsville used an 8-0 burst late in the game to finally pull away from the Christian Brothers University Bucs Monday night as they remained unbeaten.
The Bucs (5-2) had pulled within a 56-54 margin on a
Michael Drake (Little Rock, Ark./Catholic HS) layup with 5:21 remaining, but a three-pointer from Srdan Boskovic, a three-point play by Tyler Hanback, and a Josh Yost layup pushed the UAH (7-0) lead back to double figures at 64-54, and the Bucs never came closer than seven in the final two minutes.
Zack Warner (St. Louis, Mo./Clayton HS) scored 20 to lead the Bucs, while Drake had 16.
Zane Campbell led the Chargers with 18. Josh Maggette scored 16, and Hanback added 13.
The Chargers ran their offense to perfection, shooting 55 percent (22-of-40) from the floor, 41.2 percent (7-of-17) from three-point range, and 78.3 percent (18-of-23) from the free throw line. The Bucs shot 43.9 percent (25-of-57) overall but just 25 percent (6-of-24) from beyond the arc. CBU made all five of its free throws, the school's first perfect free throw shooting night since 2006.
UAH out-rebounded the Bucs 28-25, but the Bucs held a 7-3 edge in offensive rebounds and a 14-10 edge in turnovers.
The Bucs hit the road again Saturday as they visit North Alabama at 3 p.m.
