Cory McArthy scored 11 points in the No. 23 Bucs' 73-66 win over No. 9 Montevallo.
Box Score MEMPHIS—The No. 23 Christian Brothers University Bucs pur on an offensive clinic for the first 28 minutes in Thursday night's 73-66 win over No. 9 Montevallo, shooting a sparkling 65.6 percent (21-of-32) from the floor to build a commanding 52-29 lead.

Over the final 11 minutes, the Falcons (7-2) out-scored the Bucs 37-21 to cut the margin back to single digits as both teams spent much of the half at the free throw line.

Early on, the Bucs (11-2) seized control as Scott Dennis (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore HS) and Cory McArthy (St. Louis, Mo./Christian Brothers College HS) knocked down back-to-back jumpers to spark a 15-2 run that gave them a 24-14 lead on an Alex Rogers (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills HS) turnaround jumper with 6:26 remaining in the half.  The Bucs followed with runs of 9-0 and 5-0 to build a 38-18 lead on a Zack Warner (St. Louis, Mo./Clayton HS) free throw just after halftime.

Another 6-0 spurt over a two-minute stretch later in the half gave the Bucs the biggest lead of the night at 52-29 on a Harry Green (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) backdoor layup with 11:36 remaining.  From there, the Falcons ratcheted up the pressure on their defense, pulling within 61-52 when Ryan Westbrooks sank a three-pointer with 2:42 remaining to cap a 19-6 run.

The Bucs answered with a fastbreak layup by Green and a steal and breakaway slam by Dennis to extend the lead to 65-52 with 2:19 remaining, and they salted it away at the free throw line from there.

Dennis scored a career-high 23 to pace the Bucs, adding eight rebounds, three steals, and two blocks in 37 minutes.  Warner tacked on 15 with three blocks, while McArthy scored 11 with five rebounds and two assists with no turnovers.

The Bucs shot 61.5 percent (24-of-39) for the game overall to the Falcons' 42.4 percent (25-of-59).  The Bucs were 56.4 percent (22-of-39) at the free throw line, while Montevallo shot 47.8 percent (11-of-23).  After a combined 10 fouls and four free throws in the first half, the teams combined for 45 fouls and 58 free throws in the second.

The Bucs out-rebounded the Falcons 32-31 and forced 14 turnovers while committing 13.

The Bucs return to action Thursday, Jan. 6, as they visit Lambuth at 8 p.m. for their final non-conference game of the year.  They open GSC West play Saturday at Arkansas-Montevallo before returning home Thursday, Jan. 13, against Arkansas Tech.
