YOUNG HARRIS, Ga.—Junior midfielder
Andrew Ballard (Memphis, Tenn., Briarcrest Christian HS) scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick in the 68th minute to lift the Christian Brothers University Bucs to a 2-1 victory at Young Harris, their first win of the season.
The Mountain Lions (0-2-1) struck first in the seventh minute as Lucian Johnson headed in a cross from James Thorpe.
Alex Bermel (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) put the Bucs (1-2) on the board in the 29th minute as he scored the equalizer, assisted by
Gideon Leteyian (Namanga, Kenya/Kiluani New Life Secondary School) and
Michael Hollier (Lafayette, La./Teurlings HS).
Ballard scored the game-winner in the 68th minute after YHC was called for a foul in the box. The game-winning goal is the fourth of his career, and the penalty kick was the first of his CBU career.
The Bucs were out-shot 17-12, but they held a 7-3 edge in shots on goal as
Daniel Johnson (Lafayette, La./Lafayette HS) made two saves in the victory.
The Bucs face Lander Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Young Harris.
