MEMPHIS—Each team scored on a penalty kick as the Christian Brothers University Bucs played visiting Rhodes to a 1-1 tie Friday night at Signaigo Field.
The Lynx (3-1-2) scored first in the 31st minute when Petar Radujkovic scored on a penalty kick after a CBU defender was called for a foul playing a header in the box.
Yannick Skull (Adelaide, Australia/Woodcroft College) found the net for the equalizer in the 74th minute, scoring his second goal on the Bucs' second penalty of the season after a Rhodes defender was called for tripping
Adamandios Toras (Meitarie, La./Archbishop Rummel HS) in the box.
Neither team could find the net otherwise. Rhodes keeper Justin Stradley made five saves, plus two more saves by Rhodes defenders on an open net, while CBU freshman
Jaime Garcia (San Salvador, El Salvador/Lincoln School) made three saves, plus a team save by the defense.
The Bucs out-shot Rhodes 22-5, including an 8-5 edge in shots on goal. The Bucs also took a season-high 16 corner kicks to just four for the Lynx.
The Bucs return to the field Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. to take on Alabama-Huntsville in a non-conference game. Their next home game is set for Tuesday night at 7 p.m. against Montevallo.
