MEMPHIS—In the third straight overtime men's game at the newly-renovated Signaigo Field, visiting Lambuth used a pair of goals by Juan Garzon to edge the Christian Brothers University Bucs 2-1 Sunday afternoon.
The Bucs (2-5-1) struck first in the 23rd minute when
Daniel Jenkins (Somerset, England/Millfield School) collected a cross from
Gideon Leteyian (Namanga, Kenya/Kiluani New Life Secondary School), beat his defender, and fired a shot into the net past Lambuth keeper for his first college goal.
The Eagles (2-3-2) answered in the 75th minute as Garzon scored on a shot from the right side, sending the contest to overtime. Garzon headed in a cross for the golden goal in the 98th minute.
The Bucs out-shot Lambuth 18-15, but Lambuth held a 7-5 edge in shots on goal.
The Bucs have now played overtime in four of five home games on the season, including all three games at Signaigo Field. They hit the road Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. to begin their Gulf South Conference schedule at Delta State. Their next home game is a non-conference tilt with Ouachita Baptist Sunday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
