Bucs Rally Past No. 19 Panthers

Michael Hollier scored the Bucs' first goal in their 2-1 win over No. 19 Florida Tech Friday night.
Box Score DAVIE, Fla.—The Christian Brothers University Bucs scored two second-half goals to rally past No. 19 Florida Tech 2-1 on a stormy night at the Nova Southeastern Soccer Complex Friday night.

Just over 30 minutes into the game, a thunderstorm moved through the area, causing a 40-minute lightning delay.  Just after the delay ended, in the 35th minute, Florida Tech's Kalle Mansson scored on a free kick to put the Panthers (7-3-1) in front.

The Bucs (8-3) scored in the 69th minute, when Michael Hollier (Lafayette, La./Teurlings HS) chipped a rainbow shot over the goalkeeper into the net.  Just over nine minutes later, in the 79th minute, Alex Bermel (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) crossed a ball into Jose Ferraz (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/) in the six-yard box for the game-winner.

The Bucs won despite being outshot 11-6, but they held a 5-4 edge in shots on goal.  Both Jaime Garcia (San Salvador, El Salvador/Lincoln School) and Florida Tech's Derrick Hackett made three saves each.

The Bucs remain at Nova Southeastern, where they face the hosts Sunday at noon in their final non-conference game of the season.  The Bucs open GSC play at home next Friday night at 7 p.m. against West Florida.
