Box Score FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.—Christian Brothers University freshman forward
Jose Ferraz (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) scored in the final minutes of each half Sunday afternoon to lead the Bucs to a 2-1 win at Nova Southeastern, ending their non-conference schedule with eight wins in their last nine games.
Ferraz put the Bucs (9-3) on the board in the 41st minute as he scored from the top right corner of the box off a
Tony Aloia (Hallsville, Texas/Hallsville HS) cross. The Bucs' lead held up until the 75th minute, when Matthew Ilter put NSU (3-7-1) on the board as he scored off a Juan Rivera cross on a free kick.
Ferraz delivered victory for the Bucs in the 81st minute as the Sharks' attempt to clear the ball from the box failed. He pounced on the chance and scored the game-winner unassisted.
The two-goal game is Ferraz's first of the season and the Bucs' third. Aloia scored twice against Montevallo, and
Michael Hollier (Lafayette, La./Teurlings HS) achieved the feat against Young Harris.
The Bucs out-shot the Sharks 13-9, but NSU held a 6-4 edge in shots on goal.
Jaime Garcia (San Salvador, El Salvador/Lincoln School) made five saves for the Bucs.
The Bucs open GSC play at home Friday night at 7 p.m. against West Florida in a rematch of last year's GSC Championship game, which the Argos won 2-0.
