Box Score RUSSELLVILLE, Ark.—No. 24 Arkansas Tech used a big run late in each half to pull away for a 65-49 win over the Christian Brothers University Bucs Tuesday night, snapping the Bucs' winning streak at four games.
In the opening half, the Wonder Boys (3-0) scored the last nine points after the Bucs (4-1) had tied the game at 22 on a pair of
Zack Warner (St. Louis, Mo./Clayton HS) free throws with 2:27 remaining in the half. The Bucs would never tie again, but they cut the margin to 49-43 on a Warner three-point play with 5:15 remaining. From there, ATU guard Johnie Davis hit back to back threes to start a 14-0 run that pushed their lead to 63-43 on a pair of Davis free throws with 1:01 remaining.
Warner led the Bucs with 11, while
Harry Green (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) scored 10.
Cory McArthy (St. Louis, Mo./Christian Brothers College HS) grabbed a career-high nine rebounds to go with five points, four assists, and four steals, while
Scott Dennis (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore HS) was held to nine points and five rebounds before fouling out in 30 minutes.
Davis scored a game-high 27 on 11-of-14 shooting, including 3-of-4 from three-point range. Will Paul added 13.
The Bucs committed a season-high 23 turnovers, their highest total since committing 24 in a loss at North Alabama in December 2005.
The Bucs return to action next Tuesday night as they host ATU at 7 p.m.
