Bucs Blitz Mustangs 106-67

Harry green scored nine points in the Bucs' 106-67 win over Central Baptist Saturday afternoon.
Box Score MEMPHIS—The Christian Brothers University Bucs made 17 three-pointers and scored their highest point total in five years in a 106-67 win over visiting Central Baptist Saturday afternoon at Canale Arena.

The Bucs (6-2) found themselves in a one-point game, ahead 10-9 with 16:24 remaining in the first half, before the threes began to fall.  Four different Bucs would hit three-pointers during a 16-4 run over the next three minutes, with a Harry Green (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) layup pushing the edge to 26-13 with 13:28 remaining in the half.  After the Mustangs (4-10) trimmed the lead to 29-21, the Bucs ran away with it the rest of the half, using a 27-5 run to extend their lead to 56-26 at halftime, and CBC never came closer than 25 points again.

Zack Warner (St. Louis, Mo./Clayton HS) was the Bucs' top scorer with 19 points and five assists, and his five blocks rank fourth on the school single-game list.  Cory McArthy (St. Louis, Mo./Christian Brothers College HS) scored 15 points, and Scott Dennis (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore HS) had 15 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists, and four steals in 26 minutes.  Michael Drake (Little Rock, Ark./Catholic HS) scored 14 in 14 minutes off the bench, and Trey Casey (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) added 11.

Gavin McDaniel led the Mustangs with 14, and Brandon McKnight scored 10.

The Bucs shot a season-high 56.6 percent (43-of-76) from the floor, and their 43 field goals were the fourth-most in school history.  They were 17-of-34 from three-point range, the second-most three-pointers made in a game in school history.  The Mustangs shot 40.3 percent (27-of-67) overall and 20 percent (3-of-15) from three-point range.  The Mustangs out-rebounded CBU 41-37, but the Bucs forced 18 turnovers while committing just nine.

The Bucs close out 2011 with a pair of games in the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic at the South Point Arena in Las Vegas, Nev., next weekend.  Saturday, they face Central Oklahoma at 4 p.m., and Sunday they take on St. Mary's at 6 p.m.  The Bucs' next home game is set for Jan. 12 against West Alabama at 7 p.m.
