Box Score MAGNOLIA, Ark.—Host Southern Arkansas out-scored the Christian Brothers University Bucs 25-10 over the final 10 minutes on their way to a 59-50 win in the season finale for both schools and the final basketball game played in the Gulf South Conference West Division.
The first half was a slow-down, defense-oriented battle. After the Bucs (17-11, 5-9 GSC West) jumped to a 9-2 lead on a
Harry Green (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) three-pointer with 16:29 remaining in the first half, the Muleriders (11-15, 3-11) answered with seven straight points, and neither team led by more than four points again until midway through the second half.
A Geen layup gave the Bucs a 40-34 lead with 10:06 remaining, but the Muleriders went on a quick 10-2 run to take the lead for good at 44-42 on a David Noble three-point play with 6:20 remaining, and they out-scored the Bucs 12-5 in the last four minutes to stretch out their lead in the end.
Green scored 14 to lead the Bucs, adding five rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
Cory McArthy (St. Louis, Mo./Christian Brothers College HS) and
Michael Drake (Little Rock, Ark./Catholic HS) scored nine points each, with McArthy adding a career-best five assists.
Channin Hardin led the Muleriders with 24 points, and Chase Spruiell added nine with a game-high nine rebounds.
