HOT SPRINGS, Ark.—Christian Brothers University sophomore
Amanda Martin (Memphis, Tenn., Evangelical Christian School) won individual medalist honors at the Gulf South Conference Championships, shooting an 8-over-par 152 in two rounds to win the championship by four strokes and lead the Lady Bucs to a fifth-place finish, their highest ever.
Martin was tied with Harding's Soyun Kim for first place after shooting a 77 in the first round of the tournament, and her second-round 75 tied second-place Ana Morales of Arkansas Tech for the lowest score of the tournament.
The win is the third of the season for Martin, including her second in a row after winning the Natural State Golf Classic last week. She also won the Commercial Bank & Trust UAM Classic in October.
Victoria Bujalski (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons HS) and
Woojin Jung (Memphis, Tenn./Cordova HS) tied for 18th place with a 24-over 168 on the 5,834-yard, par-72 course.
Lindsey Johnson (Jackson, Tenn./Liberty Magnet HS) rounded out the scoring with a 37-over 181, tying for 29th place.
Jessica Boyuka (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) shot a 206 to finish 37th.
Arkansas Tech won the team crown, shooting a 60-over 636 as a team. West Florida (+76) edged Harding by two strokes for second place, with West Georgia (+80) finishing fourth. The Lady Bucs' 93-over-par score delivered their first ever top-five finish since joining the league. Henderson State (+112), Ouachita Baptist (+181), and Arkansas-Monticello (+286) rounded out the team scoring, while Southern Arkansas fielded an incomplete team.
The field for the NCAA Division II Super-Region Two Championship to be held May 1-3 at the Club at Eaglebrooke in Lakeland, Fla., will be announced next week. The top nine teams plus the top four individuals not on a qualifying team will advance to the regional.
