Bucs Put Away UAH Late, 3-1

Sean Rutter scored the game-winning goal in the Bucs' 3-1 win at Alabama-Huntsville Friday afternoon.
Box Score HUNTSVILLE, Ala.—The Christian Brothers University Bucs scored two goals just 71 seconds apart late in Friday afternoon's 3-1 Gulf South Conference win at Alabama-Huntsville to break what had been a 1-1 tie.

The Bucs (6-5-1, 4-2-1 GSC) struck first in the 11th minute, when Ralph Velasco (Rowlett, Texas/Rowlett HS) headed in a corner kick from Kevin Tikhomiroff (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Complexo Eucacional Contemporaneo), but UAH (1-10, 0-7) answered in the 16th minute when Mitch Wilson put one in off the post after a cross from Cyprin Kanneh.

The score remained level until the 83rd minute, when Sean Rutter (Bristol, England/Filton College) scored an unassisted goal after gaining possession of a loose ball in front of the net.  Matt Derise (Lafayette, La./St. Thomas More HS), who subbed on when the goal was scored, found the net just over a minute later, finishing off a cross from Adamandios Toras (Meitarie, La./Archbishop Rummel HS) to set the final margin.

For the game, the Bucs out-shot UAH 11-2, including a 5-1 edge in shots on goal.

The Bucs return to action Sunday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. as they visit Shorter.  Their next home game is set for Friday night, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m. against first-place West Florida.
