Box Score MEMPHIS—The Christian Brothers University Bucs scored twice in each half as they defeated West Alabama 4-0 to move into second place in the Gulf South Conference with two games remaining in the conference schedule.
The Bucs (8-6-1, 6-3-1 GSC) struck first in the 20th minute, when
Michael Hollier (Lafayette, La./Teurlings HS) scored on a strike from the left side of the box.
Daniel Jenkins (Somerset, England/Millfield School) doubled the lead in the 38th minute when he finished off a perfect cross from
Tony Aloia (Hallsville, Texas/Hallsville HS) to the back post. In the second half,
Carlos Meza Amador (Tampico, Mexico/IEST Valles) scored his first goal in a CBU uniform on the rebound after a long shot by
Neil Cummings (Belfast, Northern Ireland/St. Malachy's College) was blocked.
Ike Martin (New Orleans, La./Brother Martin HS) set the final margin in the 79th minute when he scored off a double-assist by
Samuel Wilson (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) and
William McAllister (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS).
The Bucs out-shot UWA (10-6, 6-4) 11-4 for the game, including a 6-2 margin in shots on goal.
The Bucs return to action Wednesday night at 7 p.m., when they host Union for their final home game of the season. They wrap up the regular season with a trip to Delta State Sunday afternoon, Oct. 28, at 3:30 p.m.
