Early Goal Lifts Bucs 1-0

Jose Ferraz scored a seventh-minute goal to lift the Bucs to a 1-0 win over Harding Sunday night at Signaigo Field.
Box Score MEMPHIS—A seventh-minute Jose Ferraz (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) goal lifted the Christian Brothers University Bucs to a 1-0 win over Harding Sunday night at Signaigo Field in their final non-conference game of the season.

Ferraz put the Bucs (4-5-1) on the board early.  After Harding (4-7-2) blocked a shot in the sixth minute, Neil Cummings (Belfast, Northern Ireland/St. Malachy's College) tracked down the loose ball.  He fed a pass to Adam Toras (Meitarie, La./Archbishop Rummel HS), who split two defenders and passed to his right to Ferraz.  Ferraz fired a quick shot into the left side of the net for the game's lone goal.

The Bucs kept near-constant pressure on, out-shooting the Bisons 25-3, including an 8-1 edge in shots on goal, but Harding goalkeeper Chase Keeney made seven saves to hold the Bucs to one goal.

Britton McGuire (Memphis, Tenn./Memphis University School) made one save as he recorded a shutout in his first start at CBU.

The Bucs return to action Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m., when they visit Alabama-Huntsville.  The Bucs' next home game is set for Friday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m. against West Florida.
