No. 16 Bucs Cruise Past Trojans 69-50

Michael Drake scored 22 points with 10 rebounds as the Bucs won 69-50 at Trevecca Nazarene Tuesday night.
Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn.—The No. 16 Christian Brothers University Bucs used a 30-8 run early in the second half to pull away on their way to a 69-50 win at Trevecca Nazarene Tuesday night in their first road game of the season.

The Bucs (2-0) capitalized on three three-pointers as they jumped to a quick 15-3 lead early, but a 12-0 answer from the Trojans (1-2) knotted the game at 15 with 10:08 remaining in the half.  The Bucs' lead remained seven points or fewer until the second half, when the Trojans scored the first four points to tie the game at 37 with 18:56 remaining.

After a Michael Drake (Little Rock, Ark./Catholic HS) free throw, triples from Harry Green (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) and Cory McArthy (St. Louis, Mo./Christian Brothers College HS) gave the Bucs a 44-37 edge.  By the time McArthy capped the run on a baseline jumper, the Bucs led 67-45 with 5:44 remaining, and TNU came no closer than 19 points again.

Drake led the way for the Bucs with 22 points and 10 rebounds, his third career double-double and one point off his career high.  Green and McArthy scored 19 each, with Green adding eight rebounds and six assists.  Ryan Fleming (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) grabbed nine rebounds to go with seven points and four assists.

The Bucs shot 44.6 percent (25-of-56) for the game to the Trojans' 38.8 percent (19-of-49).  CBU was 42.9 percent (9-of-21) from three-point range and 90.9 percent (10-of-11) at the free throw line.

The Bucs out-rebounded TNU 46-20, including a 16-4 edge in offensive boards, but they committed 15 turnovers while forcing just 10.

CBU comes home Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. to take on Williams Baptist.
