Trojans Upset No. 19 Bucs 79-75

Trey Casey posted team-highs of 16 points and five assists, but Trevecca Nazarene upset the No. 19 Bucs 79-75 Tuesday night.
Box Score MEMPHIS—Visiting Trevecca Nazarene shot 82.6 percent in the second half to claim a 79-75 upset over the No. 19 Christian Brothers University Bucs Tuesday night at Canale Arena.

The Bucs (4-2) took a 31-30 lead into the locker room after a Harry Green (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) layup ended a first half that featured five ties and 11 lead changes.  The Trojans (2-8) started the second half on fire, however, making their first eight shots and 12 of their first 13 as they opened a 57-46 lead with 10:23 remaining in the game.

The Bucs answered with a 13-4 run to trim the Trojan lead to 61-59 on a Trey Casey (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) three-pointer with 7:00 remaining, but they could come no closer as Trevecca finished the half 19-of-23 from the field, including 3-of-4 from three-point range.

Casey led the Bucs with 16 points and five assists.  Pat Graham (Bowling Green, Ohio/Bowling Green HS) scored 15, followed by 12 from Michael Drake (Little Rock, Ark./Catholic HS), 11 from Cory McArthy (St. Louis, Mo./Christian Brothers College HS), and 10 from Ryan Fleming (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS).

Marquise Rudolph led the Trojans with 24 points, and J.P. Nyadaro scored 20 with a game-high nine rebounds.  Nick Drake scored 14, and Maliek Daniels added 13.

For the game, the Trojans shot 63.3 percent (31-of-49), the highest percentage allowed by the Bucs since Dec. 4, 2007, when Montevallo shot 64.3 percent in an 87-80 win at CBU.  The Bucs shot 45.3 percent (29-of-64) overall and 38.9 percent (14-of-36) from three-point range.  CBU out-rebounded Trevecca 30-28, including a 14-5 edge in offensive boards, but they committed 13 turnovers to the Trojans' 12.

The Bucs return to action Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m., when they host LeMoyne-Owen.
