Bucs Top Inaugural NCAA Regional Rankings

The Bucs were ranked No. 1 in the NCAA Division II South Regional Rankings heading into this week's games at North Alabama and against Alabama-Huntsville.
INDIANAPOLIS—For the first time in school history, the Christian Brothers University Bucs are No. 1 in the NCAA Division II South Regional Rankings announced today.  The Bucs put their top ranking on the line against two other regionally-ranked opponents as they visit eighth-ranked North Alabama tonight at 8 p.m. before coming home Sunday for a showdown with second-ranked Alabama-Huntsville.  | Game Notes | CBU-UNA Live Stats | CBU-UAH Live Stats | CBU-UAH Live Video | CBU-UAH Live Audio |

The Bucs lead five GSC teams in the regional rankings, followed by Alabama-Huntsville in second.  Eckerd holds the third spot, trailed by West Georgia, Florida Tech, and West Florida.  Tuskegee is the lone SIAC representative in the top 10 in seventh, followed by North Alabama, Rollins, and Florida Southern.  The Bucs' previous high mark in the regional rankings was in 2008-09, when they were No. 2.

The regional rankings are used to select and seed the NCAA South Regional Tournament.  The conference champions of the GSC, SSC, and SIAC receive automatic bids, and the regional ranking system is used to select the five at-large berths and to seed the field.  The top-seeded team to submit a qualifying bid will host the regional March 10-13.
