Box Score NICEVILLE, Fla.—The No. 8 Christian Brothers University Bucs made 13 three-pointers as they pulled away quickly to an 83-52 win over Valdosta State in the Gulf South Conference quarterfinals Friday afternoon.

The first eight minutes were back-and-forth, with two lead changes and four ties, last on a Drew Maynard layup that tied the game at 12 with 12:42 remaining in the half.  At that point, the Bucs (22-5) had made just one of their first six three-pointers.  Starting with a Pat Graham (Bowling Green, Ohio/Bowling Green HS) triple with 10:07 remaining in the half, they would make 10 of their next 11 attempts from beyond the arc as they pulled away quickly.

The Blazers (11-16) pulled within a 38-30 margin at halftime, but the Bucs put the game out of reach in a hurry early in the second half.  Zack Warner (St. Louis, Mo./Clayton HS) started the run with a layup, and Scott Dennis (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore HS) followed with a pair of free throws.  By the time the 25-5 run ended, the Bucs led 63-35 with 12:59 remaining on a Dennis putback layup after the Bucs finally missed another three-pointer.  The Blazers never came closer than 24 points again.

Dennis finished with game-highs of 16 points, 18 rebounds, and six assists.  Harry Green (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) scored 13 with four assists, while Graham and Warner added 12 each, with Warner grabbing eight rebounds.  McArthy scored 11.

Will Alston led the Blazers with 13 points and seven rebounds, while Josh Sparks had 12 points and six boards.

For the game, the Bucs finished 54.2 percent (13-of-24) from three-point range and 51.7 percent (30-of-58) overall.  The Blazers were 35.9 percent (23-of-64) from the floor overall and missed all 14 three-pointers.  The Bucs out-rebounded the Blazers 41-32 and committed nine turnovers to the Blazers' seven.

The Bucs return to action tomorrow night at 5:30 p.m. against third-seeded West Georgia, who advanced to the semifinals with a 62-50 win over West Alabama Friday afternoon.
