Mountain Lions Pull Away From No. 19 Bucs 3-1

Box Score YOUNG HARRIS, Ga.—Host Young Harris scored a pair of second-half goals to claim a 3-1 victory over the No. 19 Christian Brothers University Bucs Saturday afternoon in the season opener for both schools.

The Mountain Lions (1-0) struck first in the 11th minute, when Lewis Hilton found the net off a cross from Niall McCabe, but the Bucs (0-1) answered with a Yannick Skull (Adelaide, Australia/Woodcroft College) goal in the 36th minute off a corner kick from Kevin Tikhomiroff (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Complexo Eucacional Contemporaneo) to send the game to the halftime intermission on level terms.

Young Harris broke the deadlock in the 68th minute, when Ilija Ilic scored off a double assist from McCabe and Khurram Shazad.  McCabe and Kyle Ball combined for a double assist on a Shazad goal with 10 seconds remaining to put it out of reach for the Bucs.

The Mountain Lions out-shot the Bucs 15-10, including a 9-8 edge in shots on goal.  Jaime Garcia (San Salvador, El Salvador/Lincoln School) made six saves for the Bucs.

The Bucs remain in Young Harris to take on Thomas University Monday afternoon at 1 p.m.  The Bucs' home opener is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 12, against Rhodes at 7 p.m.
