Box Score MEMPHIS—The Christian Brothers University Bucs scored once in each half of a 2-1 win over Alabama-Huntsville Friday night in the Gulf South Conference opener for both schools.
The Bucs (2-3, 1-0 GSC) struck first in the sixth minute on the game's first shot, when
David Skull (Adelaide, Australia/Woodcroft College) headed home a
Neil Cummings (Belfast, Northern Ireland/St. Malachy's College) corner kick. The score remained 1-0 until the 63rd minute, when
Matt Derise (Lafayette, La./St. Thomas More HS) drew a foul in the box, setting up a penalty kick for
Andrew Ballard (Memphis, Tenn./Briarcrest Christian HS), who buried it in the net for the first goal of the season.
The Chargers (0-4, 0-1) scored in the game's final second as a loose ball trickled to Ragnar Leosson on the right side of the box. Leosson barely beat the clock, putting the shot into the left side of the net just prior to the final horn.

The Bucs return to action Sunday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. when they take on new GSC member Shorter for the first time.
