Bucs Pull Away from Bulldogs 78-64

Box Score MEMPHIS—The Christian Brothers University Bucs used a 16-3 run in the final 10 minutes to put Union away in a 78-64 win Saturday afternoon as they remained unbeaten in Gulf South Conference play.

The game's first 30 minutes saw eight ties, seven lead changes, and no lead of more than seven points.  The Bucs' rally started with three free throws, one by Sidy Sall (Dakar, Senegal/Seeds Academy) and a pair from Cory McArthy (St. Louis, Mo./Christian Brothers College HS) to give them a 54-52 lead with 10:22 remaining.  By the time the run ended on a Ryan Fleming (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) jumper with 5:02 remaining, the Bucs (8-3, 3-0) led 67-55, and Union (3-9, 1-3) never came closer than nine points again.

Drake led the Bucs with 16 points, and Drew Hildreth (Memphis, Tenn./Bolton HS) posted career-bests of 13 points and seven rebounds.  Harry Green (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) also scored 13, and McArthy added 11 with eight rebounds and five assists.

Corieon Pearson led the Bulldogs with 22 points.  Roy Bullock III scored 17, and Dani Marti scored 10 points with a game-high 13 rebounds.

The Bucs shot 53.8 percent (28-of-52) overall to Union's 36.8 percent (21-of-57).  CBU out-rebounded the Bulldogs 36-30, and each team committed 10 turnovers.

The Bucs hit the road next week as they visit No. 3 Alabama-Huntsville Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.  Their next home game is Thursday, Jan. 17, at 7 p.m. against West Georgia.
