Bucs Pull Away From Statesmen 3-1

Michael Hollier scored the game-winning goal in the 86th minute to lift the Bucs to a 3-1 win over Delta State Friday night.
Box Score MEMPHIS-The Christian Brothers University Bucs scored two goals in the final 4:08 to claim a 3-1 win over visiting Delta State Friday night in Gulf South Conference action.

The Statesmen (0-7-1, 0-5-1 GSC) opened the scoring in the fourth minute as Bryce Childers headed in a free kick by Paul Ochnicki.

The Bucs equalized in the 14th minute when Paul Banks (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) fed a pass to Shaun Abbott (St. Helens, England/De la Salle HS), who scored his first goal of the season.

The 1-1 tie remained until the final minutes. In the 86th minute, Samuel Wilson (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) sent a throughball ahead to Michael Hollier (Lafayette, La./Teurlings HS), who chipped a shot over DSU keeper Mack Putyck for the game-winning goal. In the 88th minute, #Jose Ferraz scored on a long free kick that bounced in off the post after Putyck couldn't hold on to the save.

The Bucs out-shot the Statesmen 23-4 for the game, including an 8-2 advantage in shots on goal.

CBU steps out of GSC play Monday night at 7 p.m. as they host Rhodes. The Bucs return to GSC play next Friday night at 7:30 p.m. against Union.
