Box Score MEMPHIS-The Christian Brothers University Bucs opened the new season with a 62-32 win over Rhodes Sunday afternoon at Canale Arena.

The Bucs (1-0) set the tone early, opening the game on a 13-0 run over the first six minutes. Drew Hildreth (Memphis, Tenn./Bolton HS) opened the scoring with a layup, and Ryan Fleming (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) capped the run on a layup with 14:09 remaining in the half. Rhodes never came closer than eight points again.

The Bucs used a 9-0 burst late in the half, opening a 26-9 lead on a jumper by Charlie Oswald (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) with 5:46 remaining in the half.

A 25-7 run covering most of the second half put it out of reach. Hildreth capped the run with a three-pointer to put the Bucs ahead 53-24 with 6:23 remaining.

Hildreth posted game-highs of 13 points and eight rebounds for the Bucs, and Oswald and Fleming added 12.

Matt Wagner led the Lynx with eight points off the bench.

The Bucs shot 48.1 percent (26-of-54) for the game while holding Rhodes to 24 percent (12-of-50). CBU out-rebounded Rhodes 34-30, but Rhodes held a 9-7 edge in offensive rebounds. The Bucs forced 18 turnovers while committing 10.

The 32 points allowed by CBU are the second-fewest allowed in a game in school history. The Bucs won 45-30 over West Alabama Dec. 11, 2010.

Since the game is before the starting date for Division III, Rhodes counted today's game as an exhibition.

The Bucs return to action Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. as they visit No. 25 Harding. The Bucs' next home game is Thursday, Nov. 21 at 5 p.m. against Williams Baptist.
