No. 25 Bisons Edge Bucs 70-66

Harry Green scored a game-high 21 points, but the Bucs dropped a 70-66 decision at No. 25 Harding Thursday night.
Box Score SEARCY, Ark.-No. 25 Harding out-scored the Christian Brothers University Bucs 8-2 over the final three minutes as they rallied for a 70-66 win Thursday night at Rhodes Field House.

The late run proved to be the difference in a game that saw 12 ties, 11 lead changes, and no lead of more than five points for either side.

The Bucs (1-1) jumped to a 7-2 lead early on a fastbreak layup by Ryan Fleming (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) and led for most of the first half, but Harding (1-0) ended the half on a 6-0 run to take a 32-29 lead into halftime.

After the Bisons led for most of the second half, the Bucs used a 6-0 burst to take a 60-55 lead on a Cory McArthy (St. Louis, Mo./Christian Brothers College HS) layup with 8:06 remaining. The Bisons came back to tie the score at 62 on a Hayden Johnson bucket, but Harry Green (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) put the Bucs back on top 64-62 with 4:06 remaining.

The Bucs went cold the rest of the way, however, only scoring two points on two free throws as they went 0-for-5 from the floor in the final four minutes. The Bisons took the lead for good at 67-64 on a trey by Andraz Kavas with 1:38 remaining, and they sank three of four free throws in the final 26 seconds to salt away the victory.

Green scored a game-high 21 points for the Bucs, while Trey Casey (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) returned to the lineup and scored 18 after missing the opener Sunday against Rhodes due to injury. McArthy scored 12.

Kavas led the Bisons with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Weston Jameson had 16. Hayden Johnson added 15 with nine rebounds, and Jacob Gibson had 11.

The Bisons shot 49 percent (24-of-49) to the Bucs' 43.1 percent (25-of-58) and out-rebounded CBU 36-28. The Bucs forced 12 Harding turnovers while committing seven.

The Bucs return to action Thursday night, Nov. 21, at 5 p.m. as they host Williams Baptist.
