Box Score MEMPHIS-Visiting Palm Beach Atlantic took a 3-0 first half lead as they sailed to a 5-2 win over the Christian Brothers University Bucs Saturday night at Signaigo Field.
The Sailfish (9-3-1) struck first in the 11th minute as Brandon Langenberg headed in a Kevin Ireland cross, and Evan Singlar scored unassisted to double their lead in the 22nd minute. Singlar fed a cross to Kenny Hogg in the 30th minute for the first of Hogg's three goals in the game, giving PBA a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Hogg scored unassisted in the 47th minute to extend the lead to 4-0 as he took advantage of a failed clearance attempt by CBU and scored.
Jose Ferraz (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/) put the Bucs (7-10-1) on the board in the 53rd minute with his 11th goal, stealing a ball in the midfield and dribbling in for a one-on-one attempt against the goalkeeper. Hogg completed the hat trick in the 59th minute as he converted on a Melo Matutu cross.
Jarrian Cutrer (Lafayette, La./Episcopal School of Acadiana) set the final margin in the 74th minute as he scored on a one-touch shot off a cross from
Paul Banks (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS).
For the game, PBA out-shot the Bucs 12-7, including a 5-2 edge in shots on goal as neither goalkeeper made a save in the contest.
The Bucs honored eight seniors in pregame Senior Day ceremonies.
CBU returns to action in the Gulf South Conference Tournament Friday at Brosnaham Park in Pensacola, Fla. as they take on the top seed, No. 21 West Florida.
