Bucs Outlast Bisons 85-76 in Overtime

Sidy Sall scored a career-high 22 points in the Bucs' 85-76 overtime win over Harding Tuesday night.
Box Score MEMPHIS-The Christian Brothers University Bucs survived a game-tying desperation three at the buzzer as they won 85-76 in overtime Tuesday night against Harding.

The Bucs led for most of the game, taking the advantage with a 7-0 burst capped by a Trey Casey (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) bucket with 10:12 remaining in the half that gave the Bucs an 18-11 edge. The Bucs' lead never grew past seven points, and the Bisons fought back to tie the game at 60 heading into the game's final minute. Cory McArthy (St. Louis, Mo./Christian Brothers College HS) sank a pair of free throws with 34.4 seconds remaining, and after a Charlie Oswald (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) steal, he sank two more with 10.0 to play.

Harding's Jacob Gibson made a free throw with 6.2 seconds remaining to pull the Bisons within a 64-61 score. After he missed the second free throw on purpose, Tony Cochran missed a three-pointer from the right corner. After Harding grabbed that offensive rebound, the ball found its way to Nick Mason on the left wing, and his desperation three at the buzzer found the net to force overtime.

The Bucs took the lead for good on their third possession of overtime, when Ryan Fleming (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) buried a trey from the right corner off a feed from Harry Green (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS). The Fleming three was the Bucs' only field goal attempt of overtime as they were 18-of-20 at the free throw line with three turnovers. Green was a perfect 8-of-8 at the free throw line in the extra frame, which CBU led by as many as 12 points.

Sidy Sall (Dakar, Senegal/Seeds Academy) paced the Bucs with a career-high 22 points to go with seven rebounds, five assists, three steals and two blocks. McArthy scored 17 points with five rebounds as he was 10-of-11 at the free throw line, and Trey Casey (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) added 15 points with eight rebounds before fouling out in 39 minutes. Green scored 14 points with five rebounds and five assists. Fleming scored 13 with six rebounds.

Gibson led the Bisons with 17 points, and Mason scored 13. Hayden Johnson scored 11 with six rebounds, and Blake McNair scored 10.

The Bucs shot 54.3 percent (25-of-46) for the game to the Bisons' 43.8 percent (28-of-64). Each team was 83.3 percent at the free throw line, with the Bucs shooting 30-of-36, while the Bisons were 10-of-12. CBU out-rebounded Harding 33-25, but Harding had a 9-6 edge in offensive rebounds and forced 19 CBU turnovers while committing 17.

The Bucs return to action Saturday afternoon, Dec. 7, at 3 p.m. as they host Central Baptist.
