Box Score MEMPHIS–Visiting West Alabama claimed a 3-0 win over the Christian Brothers University Bucs Sunday afternoon at Signaigo Field.
The Tigers (3-0-1, 1-0-1 GSC) struck first in the 29th minute as Thibault Charmey served a free kick into the box for Alex Brown, who put it in the net with a one-touch shot. Charmey added to the margin in the 68th minute as he sent a corner kick to the near post for Clay Green, who headed it in to give them a 2-0 edge.
Charmey scored unassisted in the 77th minute to put it out of reach.
For the game, UWA out-shot the Bucs (1-3, 0-2) 14-12, including an 8-3 lead in shots on goal.
Jaime Garcia (San Salvador, El Salvador/Lincoln School) made a season-high five saves for the Bucs, while Lavares Stone made three saves to earn the shutout for UWA.
The Bucs play their next three on the road. They visit Lee Friday night at 6 p.m. and Shorter Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. Their next home game is set for Sunday, Sept. 29, at 2 p.m. against Alabama-Huntsville.
