Bucs Blaze Bulldogs 89-59

Trey Casey poured in a career-high 32 points, making 9-of-10 three-pointers as the Bucs made 18 threes in an 89-59 win over Union.
Box Score MEMPHIS-The Christian Brothers University Bucs turned in one of the best three-point shooting nights in school history as they routed visiting Union 89-59 Thursday night, breaking one school record and narrowly missing Gulf South Conference and NCAA marks.

The Bucs (8-5, 4-3 GSC) opened the game on fire, knocking down their first nine three-pointers, building a 33-7 lead when Trey Casey (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) capped the streak with his fourth triple of the day with 10:20 remaining in the first half. Five different Bucs made threes in the 9-for-9 start, which was one off the GSC record of 10 straight three-pointers made, set by Troy State in 1990-91. The Bucs never allowed Union (8-5, 4-3) closer than 22 points again after the hot start.

Casey wasn't done, however, making his first eight in a row before finishing 9-of-10 from three-point range, narrowly missing the NCAA record of 10 straight threes made in a game. He finished with a career-high 32 points on 10-of-12 shooting overall, adding five rebounds and three steals in 37 minutes. His nine three-pointers were tied for 11th in GSC history and second in school history for three-pointers in a single game, matching the mark Pat Graham set Feb. 7 last season. Tim Stock set the CBU record Feb. 15, 1988 with 11 at Freed-Hardeman. Casey's 90-percent shooting from three-point range broke a school record set by Clint Dowdle in 2002 and matched by Casey in November against Williams Baptist.

Harry Green (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) celebrated his birthday with 18 points, seven rebounds, six assists and two steals with no turnovers in 37 minutes. Ryan Fleming (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) scored eight points with seven assists and six rebounds, and Cory McArthy (St. Louis, Mo./Christian Brothers College HS) added nine with five assists and no turnovers.

Corieon Pearson led the Bulldogs with 18 points, and AJ Roberts scored 14.

The Bucs finished the game 18-of-27 from three-point range, second-most in a game in school history behind the record of 20 set against Williams Baptist Jan. 6, 2005. CBU's 66.7 percent shooting from three-point range was tied for second in school history, behind the 72.2 percent (13-of-18) night against Ouachita Baptist Feb. 15, 2007.

Overall, the Bucs shot 58 percent (29-of-50) from the floor and 81.3 percent (13-of-16) from the free throw line. Union shot 40 percent (22-of-55) overall, but just 22.2 percent (6-of-27) from three-point range. The Bucs out-rebounded Union 29-25, but the Bulldogs had a 9-6 edge in offensive rebounds. After a turnover-free first half, the Bucs committed six for the game while forcing eight.

The Bucs return to the court Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. as they host North Alabama.
