After a back-and-forth start, the Bucs (9-6, 5-4 GSC) used a 7-0 burst to take a 22-14 lead on a
Harry Green (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) jumper with 10:57 remaining in the first half. Later in the half, the Bucs pulled away with a 12-0 run capped by another McArthy basket that gave them a 43-29 lead with 2:05 remaining in the half. UWF (3-12, 2-7) never came closer than seven points again until the final minute.
Drew Hildreth (Memphis, Tenn./Bolton HS) scored 20 points with 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season, while
Trey Casey (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) scored 20 points for the sixth consecutive game. McArthy scored 19, and
Ryan Fleming (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) scored 12 with a career-high 10 assists. Green tacked on 11.
Terrence Townes scored a game-high 26 for the Argos, while Nate Johnson scored 16 with 11 rebounds. Mario Stramaglia added 11.
The Bucs shot 55.7 percent (34-of-61) for the game to the Argos' 43.6 percent (34-of-78). The Argos out-rebounded CBU 45-28, including a 26-9 edge in offensive boards. The Bucs forced 11 turnovers while committing eight.
The Bucs conclude the first half of the GSC schedule Saturday night at 7 p.m. as they visit Valdosta State. Their next home game is set for Thursday, Jan. 30, as they host Alabama-Huntsville.
