Bucs Drop Hawks 69-58

Ryan Fleming scored 11 points with seven rebounds and four steals in the Bucs' 69-58 win over Shorter Saturday afternoon.
Box Score MEMPHIS-The Christian Brothers University Bucs snapped a three-game skid Saturday afternoon with a 69-58 win over Shorter at Canale Arena.

The Bucs (5-5, 1-3 GSC) fell behind early as Shorter (4-6, 1-3) went on a 9-0 run capped by a Brock Rowan trey that gave them an 11-6 edge with 12:44 remaining in the half.

The Bucs answered with a 21-8 run, capped by a three-point play by Trey Casey (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) that gave them a 27-19 lead with 4:37 remaining in the half.

The Bucs led by as many as 16 points in the second half, never allowing the Hawks closer than seven points in the second half.

Casey paced the Bucs with 23 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals with no turnovers in 38 minutes, his first double-double of the season and the third of his career. Sidy Sall (Dakar, Senegal/Seeds Academy) scored 12 with nine rebounds and three blocks, and Ryan Fleming (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) added 11 with seven rebounds and four steals. Cory McArthy (St. Louis, Mo./Christian Brothers College HS) scored 10, and Harry Green (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) added five assists, four rebounds and three steals to his five points.

Dedric Ware led the Hawks with 20 points, while Jordan Jacks scored 15 with 12 rebounds per game.

The Bucs shot 43.3 percent (26-of-60) from the floor, including 28.9 percent (7-of-18) from three-point range. The Hawks were 41.7 percent (25-of-60) overall but just 11.8 percent (2-of-17) from three-point range. The Bucs out-rebounded Shorter 38-34, including a 9-7 edge in offensive rebounds, and they forced 12 turnovers while committing 11.

The Bucs return to action Monday night at 7 p.m. as they host West Georgia.
