Bucs Hold off Wolves 64-55

Drew Hildreth had 12 points and a career-high 12 rebounds in the Bucs' 64-55 win over first-place West Georgia Monday night.
Box Score MEMPHIS-The Christian Brothers University Bucs survived a back-and-forth game with eight ties and 13 lead changes in a 64-55 win over first-place West Georgia Monday night at Canale Arena.

The Bucs (6-5, 2-3 GSC) held a narrow 53-51 lead on a Drew Hildreth (Memphis, Tenn./Bolton HS) layup with 3:06 remaining as neither team scored for nearly two minutes. With the shot clock running down, Trey Casey (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) found Cory McArthy (St. Louis, Mo./Christian Brothers College HS) deep on the left wing, and McArthy knocked down a crucial three-pointer with 1:22 remaining. After a stop from the CBU defense, Hildreth sank a pair of free throws to take a 58-51 lead with 51 seconds remaining. UWG (10-3, 3-2) trimmed the lead to 58-55, but Casey scored the final six points on four free throws and a fastbreak layup after a Ryan Fleming (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) steal.

Casey scored a game-high 21 points with seven rebounds, two assists and two steals, and Hildreth scored 12 points and a career-high 12 rebounds, recording his first career double-double.

Deonta Stocks led UWG with 16 points, three steals and two blocks, and Lavon Gray scored 12 points with eight rebounds.

The Bucs shot 44.4 percent (24-of-54) for the game to the Wolves' 40.7 percent (24-of-59). The Bucs held a 38-28 lead on the boards, including a 13-9 edge in offensive rebounds, but they committed 14 turnovers while forcing just nine.

The Bucs hit the road Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. as they visit Lee. Their next home game is Thursday, Jan. 16, at 7 p.m. against Union.
