Box Score JACKSON, Tenn.-The Christian Brothers University Bucs wrapped up sole possession of first place in the Gulf South Conference standings with a 1-0 win at Union Friday night.
Senior midfielder
Shane Keely (Dublin, Ireland/Colaiste Ide) gave the Bucs (14-2, 8-1 GSC) the only goal they would need in the 26th minute as he capitalized on a double-assist by
Maurice Flaig (Freiburg, Germany/KGBK Bad Krozingen) and
Kevin Tikhomiroff (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Complexo Eucacional Contemporaneo).
From there, the Bucs clamped down on defense, limiting Union to just two shots on goal in the game as they logged their fifth straight clean sheet and their seventh of the season.
For the game, the Bucs out-shot Union (3-11, 2-7) 17-8, including a 7-2 edge in shots on goal.
The Bucs advance to the GSC Tournament as the top seed. They will play again next Friday in Pensacola, Fla., with the time and opponent to be determined.
