Box Score CLEVELAND, Miss.-No. 21 Delta State held the Christian Brothers University Bucs to a season-low 33.9 percent shooting as they topped the Bucs 66-56 to complete the season sweep of the series.

Neither team led by more than six points in a back-and-forth first half, but the Statesmen (21-3, 14-2 GSC) used a 7-2 burst midway through the second half to open a 47-38 lead on a Willie Readus bucket with 9:29 remaining. The Bucs answered with a 10-2 run of their own to pull within 49-48 on a Trey Casey (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) three-pointer with 6:03 remaining, but DSU scored the next six points and the Bucs could never come closer than four points again.

Trey Casey (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) led the Bucs (13-9, 9-7) with 18 points, and Sidy Sall (Dakar, Senegal/Seeds Academy) scored 12 points with nine rebounds, two blocks and two steals.

Cornell Knight led the Statesmen with 17 points. Readus scored 16 with 13 rebounds, and Devin Schmidt had 14.

The Bucs' season-low 33.9 percent (19-of-56) shooting was just the third time this season they have been held under 40 percent from the floor and three percent worse than their previous season-low of 36.9 percent against Delta State in December. DSU shot 50 percent (23-of-46) and out-rebounded the Bucs 32-31. The Bucs held a 12-5 edge in offensive rebounds, and they forced four DSU turnovers while committing three.

The Bucs return to action Thursday night at 8 p.m. when they visit Union. Their next home game is Thursday, Feb. 27, at 7 p.m. against West Florida.
