Bucs Win 70-59 at Union

Box Score JACKSON, Tenn.-The Christian Brothers University Bucs jumped to a 16-7 lead in the first eight minutes and never trailed in a 70-59 win at Union Thursday night.

After the teams traded baskets for the first three minutes, the Bucs (14-9, 10-7 GSC) went on an 11-2 run capped by a Drew Hildreth (Memphis, Tenn./Bolton HS) layup that gave them a 16-7 lead with 12:54 remining in the first half. They never allowed Union (11-12, 7-10) closer than six points again, leading by as many as 15 points in the second half.

Sidy Sall (Dakar, Senegal/Seeds Academy) paced the Bucs with 17 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks. Cory McArthy (St. Louis, Mo./Christian Brothers College HS) scored 16, and Hildreth added 13 with eight rebounds.

Ashanti Day led Union with 16 points and 16 rebounds, while Roy Bullock also scored 16.

The Bucs shot 42.3 percent (22-of-52) for the game while holding the Bulldogs to 38.3 percent (23-of-60). The Bucs out-rebounded Union 42-36 and forced six turnovers while committing just five.

The Bucs play their final road game of the season Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. as they visit North Alabama. CBU's next home game is Thursday night, Feb. 27, when they host West Florida at 7 p.m.
