Lions Edge Bucs at the Buzzer 91-90

Drew Hildreth scored 16 points in the Bucs' 91-90 loss at North Alabama Saturday afternoon.
Box Score FLORENCE, Ala.-North Alabama's Bruce Adams scored on an inbounds play with 0.8 seconds remaining to lift the host Lions to a 91-90 win over the Christian Brothers University Bucs.

Adams' game-winner provided the game's 16th lead change, to go with six ties, and neither team led by more than seven points in the game.

The Bucs (14-10, 10-8 GSC) had led for most of the final minutes, taking an 86-84 edge on a Trey Casey (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) triple with 35 seconds to play and extending it to 88-84 on a pair of Cory McArthy (St. Louis, Mo./Christian Brothers College HS) free throws with 30 seconds remaining. After UNA (18-8, 12-6) pulled within one on a Rashaun Claiborne three with 16 seconds remaining, Harry Green (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) made two free throws with 10 seconds remaining.

The Lions trimmed the lead back to one again on a pair of Nathan Spehr free throws with seven seconds remaining, and the Lions forced a turnover on the Bucs' inbounds pass. The Lions missed a shot with three seconds remaining, but the rebound went out of bounds to UNA to set up the Adams game-winner.

Casey led the Bucs with 23 points, while McArthy scored a career-best 22. Drew Hildreth (Memphis, Tenn./Bolton HS) scored 16, while Green and Sidy Sall (Dakar, Senegal/Seeds Academy) added 10 each. Ryan Fleming (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) scored nine and matched his career-high with 10 assists.

Claiborne led the Lions with 26 points and nine rebounds. Adams scored 17, followed by 13 from Marquel Darrington and 11 by Spehr.

Both teams sizzled from the floor, with the Bucs shooting a season-high 62.3 percent (33-of-53), including 50 percent (13-of-26) from three-point range. The Lions shot 54 percent (34-of-63) overall, including 50 percent (8-of-16) from beyond the arc. UNA out-rebounded the Bucs 35-27, including 17-7 in offensive rebounds, and they forced 14 CBU turnovers while committing nine.

The Bucs return to action Thursday night at 7 p.m. as they host West Florida. They wrap up the regular season next Saturday, March 1, at home against Valdosta State at 4 p.m.
