MEMPHIS – Facing challenging circumstances, Christian Brothers University student-athletes finished the Spring semester with a record 3.37 grade point average, which topped the previous mark of 3.16.
CBU also saw 62 percent of its student-athletes make the Dean's List.
"Under challenging circumstances to complete their studies this spring, our student athletes just completely knocked it out of the park," said
Brian Summers, Director of Athletics. "Credit is due to the student athletes, our coaching staff who provided additional monitoring, and our Academic Services staff who provided exceptional support."
Each women's sports team finished with at least a 3.30 GPA. The women's tennis team led the department with a team GPA of 3.75, and saw six of its seven student-athletes make the Dean's List. Women's soccer had a 3.64 GPA, and had 21 of its 26 team members make the Dean's List.
The volleyball team had an impressive semester in the classroom, seeing its team GPA climb almost a full point to 3.62, and finished with nine of 14 student-athletes on the Dean's List.
The men's golf team led all men's sports teams with a 3.49 GPA. Baseball (3.37 GPA-17 Dean's List) and men's soccer (3.41 GPA-17 Dean's List) both had more than half of its student-athletes on the Dean's List.
