HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a closely contested opening 15 minutes, the Bucs used a 9-2 run to take a 38-30 lead.
- Delta State responded with an 8-0 run, over the final 1:51, to tie the game at 38 going into intermission.
- CBU shot a blistering 65 percent (15-of-23) in the first half
- The second half was more of the same, as neither team led by more than five points.
- A three pointer by Aiden Ruthsatz, with 4:58 left, put CBU up 65-61.
- The Bucs scored just two points, on a pair of free throws, the rest of the way.
- Following the Brooks three pointer the Bucs missed a shot with, one second left, to help DSU seal the win.
KEY STATS | NOTEABLES:
- CBU finished the contest 54 percent from the field (26-of-48), including 7-of-17 from three point range.
- The Statesmen outscored CBU 52-24 in the paint, and shot 59.2 percent (29-of-49) from the floor, including 61 percent in the second half.
- CBU converted 10 of its 13 free throw attempts.
- CBU finished with a slight 23-21 rebounding edge.
- The Statesmen never led by more than two points.
