KANSAS CITY, Mo.- After a banner season that was capped off with a Gulf South Conference Championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance,
Lucho Galizzi was named Second Team All-American by the United Soccer Coaches Association (USC), as announced by the organization.
Galizzi was also named First Team All-South Region. Joining Galizzi, earning All-Region honors, were
Max Klink,
Brian Torre and
Alvaro Martinez. Klink and Torre earned second team honors, while Martinez was voted to the third team.
Galizzi earned the honor after he led the Bucs, and was tied for third in the GSC, with eight total goals. Galizzi also finished in the top-five in shots (2.50) per game and shots on goal (1.21) per game. He scored in four league contests, including the game-winners against Auburn Montgomery and Mississippi College (GSC Tournament).
The Puerto Madryn, Argentina native earned his first GSC Player of the Week honor after opening the season with three goals in two matches. He is the first CBU men's soccer player to earn All-American honors since 2011 (Jose Feraz).
Klink, who was also named Most Oustanding Player at the GSC Tournament, finished the season in the top-five among all GSC goalkeepers in save percentage (2nd, .800), goals against (3rd, .853), shutouts (3rd, 5) and saves per game (3rd, 3.33).
Defenders Torre and Martinez helped the Bucs earn the third-lowest goals against average in the league (.90). Torre started in all but one contest, and also led the team with four assists, while playing over 1500 minutes.
Martinez started in 18 matches, as a central defender, and played in the most minutes of any CBU outfield player (1571). The Sevilla, Spain native also scored the game-winning goal against Alabama Huntsville.
