Mesele Finishes in 57th at NCAA Championships

JOPLIN, Mo. - Christian Brothers University cross country runner Berket Mesele finished in 57th place at the NCAA Division II Men's Cross Country Championships, on Saturday morning, at Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course.

Mesele finished the 10K race in a personal record and school record time of 30:41.5. He is the first CBU men's cross country runner to qualify for the NCAA D2 Nationals since Stephen Hill in 2008.

"By far the best season I've ever had," said Mesele. "It didn't finish on the best of terms, but it's all about the journey and I think I had a pretty good one."

"It was an incredible weekend for Berket, he was very focused and determined," said Coach Bill Hoffman. "He had an incredible season and is set to make a statement this upcoming indoor track season."

Mesele finished 3rd at the Gulf South Conference Championships and 2nd at the NCAA South Region Championships. He had two individual wins this years and was the first NCAA Division II finisher at the Memphis Twilight Classic.
