MEMPHIS - The Christian Brothers University cross country teams wrapped up their 2023 season after competing in seven races as a team and sending Berket Mesele to the NCAA Division II National Championships.  
 
ABOUT THE 2023 SEASON 

• Both teams opened the season with the Memphis Twilight Classic. The men finished third amongst NCAA Division II teams, women were fifth. 

• CBU then traveled to Malibu, Calif. to compete at the Pepperdine Waves Invitational as one of the only out of state schools.  

• Berket Mesele earned his first individual victory in Malibu. 

• The men's team finished second at the Rhodes Cross Country Invitational.

• Mesele earned his second straight individual victory. Other Bucs that finished in the Top-10 were Anton Lindberg finishing fifth, Will Clayton finishing ninth, and Leo Stefanski crossed the line in 10th. 

• The women's team finished in fourth place, with all five scoring runners in the top 40. 

• Sarah Delgado won the women's race to earn her first collegiate victory. 

• At the GSC Championships, the men earned a fourth place finish, tied for the Buc's best finish since 2012.   

• Berket Mesele finished third and set a school record. The third place finish is the best ever by a Buc. 

• The Lady Bucs finished in seventh place, second best in school history. 

• At the NCAA Division II South Regional Championships, the Bucs had five finishers in the Top-50.  

• Sarah Delgado and Berket Mesele both earned All-Region Honors.  

• With a second place finish, Mesele became the second men's cross country runner to qualify for the NCAA Division II National Championships. 

• Six runners on both teams ran at least one personal best time.  

• Mesele completed the season with a 57th place finish at nationals.
