BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- Christian Brothers University men's soccer player
Marco Osti was named First Team All-Gulf South Conference, and
Max Klink was honored as a second team selection, as announced by the league, on Friday.
The awards are voted on by the league's coaches.
Osti leads the Bucs, and is tied for fourth in the GSC, with seven goals. Osti is also tied for second in the league with three game winning goals, including goals against Shorter, Montevallo and Auburn Montgomery in three of the last four games. The Trento, Italy native is currently on a five-game goal scoring streak.
Klink, the goalkeeper for the Bucs, earned Second Team All-GSC honors for the second straight year after finishing the regular season ranked third in the league with a meager .857 goals against average. The Amsterdam native is also third in the league with a .797 save percentage and is third in goals against. He is also a two-time GSC Defensive Player of the Week award winner, and has posted four shutouts. Klink had a season high eight saves versus Shorter.
The Bucs open play in the GSC Tournament on Sunday, Nov. 5, when they visit No. 4 seed Auburn University Montgomery. The winner of the match advances to the semifinals, where they will face the winner of No. 1 seed Mississippi College and No. 8 Delta State.
The Bucs, who are unbeaten in their last five contests, defeated Auburn Montgomery 2-0 to Oct. 20.
