Vicent Sanchis Olmedo earns Scholar All-American honors from USC

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Christian Brothers University men's soccer's Vicent Sanchis Olmedo earned Second Team Scholar All-American honors from the United Soccer Coaches (USC) organization when the awards were announced on Thursday. The graduate goalkeeper from Valencia, Spain was the sole representative of the Gulf South Conference (GSC) in the shortlist of 20 Division II scholar-athletes. He became the fourth CBU men's soccer player to be named a USC Scholar All-American.

Sanchis Olmedo boasted a 3.75 GPA in his Master's of Computer Science program while excelling on the field to earn Scholar All-American status from the USC. He was the nation's statistical leader at the Division II level in both goals against average (0.524) and save percentage (0.857) in his 13 starts between the sticks this season. He became the first Buccaneer to earn GSC Defensive Player of the Year honors and the second goalkeeper to earn the honor in the league's history. He was also named Second Team All-Region by the Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association.
